Is Edisto Beach, South Carolina Really a RedNeck Spot?

I live in South Carolina as well. I live in Pawleys Island, which is about 30 minutes south of Myrtle Beach. I've heard that Edisto is a lot like Pawleys because it is more low key and a lot less commercialized. We aren't extremely redneck in Pawleys, so I'd think the same for Edisto. Personally, if I had to choose between Edisto or Myrtle Beach, I would choose Edisto. Myrtle Beach is a bit too tacky for my taste.
