Fitting in at a new school!? HELP!?

I just graduated 8th grade and will be attending high school next year. I am planning on transferring to another school in which I think I will "fit in" a little better. The high school in which my middle school feeds into has a reputation of being a poor school. Also, many students are "redneck" and "ignorant" so to speak. (And yes, I am from the hills of KY and not all of us are like that :P ). I have been insulted about my style, education, and accent by fellow students. And yes, I tend to lean toward the "preppy" style of clothing. The school I am transferring to is a city school, unlike my old school which was part of the county district. Both are public schools, but the city school's student body has the reputation as being preppy, and the school is said to be a much more educational learning place (Yeah, they're hated by my old school). I believe I will fit in better at my new school, but just to make sure, what are some ways I an make sure I fit in? Thanks!
